Dallas suburb getting more attention
At first glance, Parkdale isn't the most eye-catching neighborhood in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. But as more people have moved to the Metroplex, the neighborhood has started getting second looks. "There is a lot of interest that hasn't been there in a long time," says Cory Cross, a Realtor with Campagna Real Estate who has lived all around the DFW area. "It is a very natural and older part of town that people like once they see it." Proximity to several parks, nearby schools and accessibility to major roadways allow residents to enjoy the Metroplex but escape the hustle and bustle when it's time to go home. Parkdale is also known as the birthplace of German Chocolate Cake. If folks drive by Academy Drive, they will spot the small home where baker Mrs. George Clay created the decadent treat in 1957.

Modest homes and investment properties
Modest ranch-style and cottage homes from the mid-1900s line the streets of Parkdale. Oak and cedar trees are prominent throughout the area. Street parking is an option, but narrow roadways make it difficult for oncoming traffic to work around those cars. However, most properties have a driveway and garage. Prices typically cost between $145,000 for an investment property and $370,000 for a larger rancher with several bedrooms. "It's one of those little corners of the Dallas area where there are quite a few rehabs," Cross says.
Single family homes in Parkdale are often cozy and offer plenty of space in the driveway.

Children enjoy the modest playground and swing set while parents relax at the covered picnic tables. The basketball court and baseball field sit beside the main walking path. "It's an outdoorsy place; you can see a ton of people out picnicking, playing sports and flying kites," Cross says. Nearby Grover Keeton Golf Course features a practice area, a snack bar and an 18-hole golf course.
