Starry nights and a great location
As urban living becomes more expensive and hectic, quiet, out-of-the-way communities like Rylie are growing increasingly popular. Instead of falling asleep to sirens and traffic, residents may drift off to the distant hoot of a barn owl and wake up to see chickens and horses in the yard next door. “The stars are brighter in the countryside,” says Realtor Bella Alvarado of Keller Williams Realty. “It’s really all about country living. People who move to Rylie want the best of both worlds.” The community is far enough from the city to enjoy the quiet, but still close enough to enjoy views of the Dallas skyline and only a few minutes’ drive from many amenities. “Rylie is very close to several major highways,” says Realtor Rosa Owens of Coldwell Banker Apex. “It’s well located and although it’s a big community that’s spread out, it’s very family oriented.”
Rylie offers a quiet lifestyle for those looking to escape the city.

Suburban developments and rural roads
The northern part of Rylie was planned with new developments, and it resembles a Dallas suburb. But to the south, Riley has a rural feel, and houses sit on more significant acreage. Architectural styles in the area include classic and contemporary brick ranchers, quaint farmhouses and Austin Stone Cottages. Many properties have modest backyards with fences, large driveways, and attached garages. Some plots of land sit by creeks, offering a peaceful ambiance. Some neighborhoods have sidewalks, but most homes sit on quiet streets and country roads. Home prices range from about $200,000 for a brick ranch-style home to around $575,000 for a Minimal Traditional home.
Rylie is a family friendly neighborhood located close to Downtown Dallas.

Abundant parks and green spaces
On weekends and afternoons, Rylie’s neighbors head to any of the community’s abundant green spaces, such as Fireside Park. The park is known for its recreation center, forested walking trails and shallow streams that are perfect for wading in. Locals also travel to Cedar Ridge Preserve for an elevated view of the flat Texan landscape. Hikers can walk miles on its shaded trails, ponder life while sitting by the pond or appreciate nature while visiting the butterfly garden.

Short trips to many shops
Residents can visit Foodland Markets on Lake June Road in Mesquite for grocery shopping and everyday essentials. Walmart Supercenter and Home Depot are about 4 miles away in Balch Springs. Eden’s Organic Garden Center and community-supported farm is 3 miles from Riley. The center grows sustainable produce, eggs and meat that they sell at a small farmers market on site most Saturdays from April to December. Encanto Market is located on Fireside Drive. Founded by Maria Hernandez and her family in 2022, this brightly colored eatery has rapidly become Rylie's most popular spot for food and pantry staples. Some locals stop by daily for everything from tortas to ice cream and aguas frescas.

Texas-sized festivals
In April, the annual Big Texas Beer Fest is held at nearby Fair Park. The event features over 90 breweries showcasing over 450 different beers, ciders, meads and seltzers. Attendees can enjoy live music, food trucks, local vendors and a game arcade. Residents might return to the park in September to join about 2.5 million other Texans at the State Fair. Attendees can check out the miles of agriculture, livestock, science, culture and art exhibits, dozens of amusement rides and all the fried food a person could eat.
Getting in and around Riley
Interstate 20 bisects the neighborhood. This major east-west highway connects people from Texas to South Carolina. US Highway 175 skirts the neighborhood’s northwestern boundaries, providing commuters a direct 13-mile drive to downtown Dallas and a 31-mile drive to Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. Although DART bus service is available from Buckner Station, this is a car-dependent neighborhood.
