In the neighborhood's northwest corner is Turtle Creek Village, a shopping center where residents can grab a bite to eat at the Mexican restaurant Jalisco Norte or pick up groceries at Tom Thumb. Chic coffee shops and eateries line the western border of Turtle Creek along Oak Lawn Avenue. Union is a neighborhood coffee house sponsored by the Oak Lawn United Methodist Church, listed on the National Register of Historic Places due to its stunning Gothic architecture. Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen serves Cajun-style dishes in a cozy dining room with exposed brick walls. The Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek is an iconic hotel, and residents can dine on French-inspired cuisine at The Mansion Restaurant. Along Turtle Creek Boulevard, Turtle Creek Park provides plenty of spaces for passive recreation with walking paths, benches and lush gardens dotted with azaleas. Arlington Hall anchors the green space, a historic Greek Revival-style mansion that’s now a popular venue for events. Further south is Reverchon Park, which features tennis courts, a sand volleyball court and a playground for kids to explore. The Katy Trail runs along the neighborhood’s eastern border, connecting locals to Uptown. “People bike, run and walk their dogs. There are also a few restaurants and bars along the trail,” Lascsak says.Festivities at Turtle Creek Park
Events are held at Turtle Creek Park year-round. Popular festivities include the annual Day at the Races, a fundraising event for the Turtle Creek Conservancy that features live music, mint juleps and Southern cuisine alongside a big screen where locals can watch the Kentucky Derby. The community also celebrates the holiday season at Light Up Turtle Creek Park.Access to the Dallas North Tollway and Route 75
Turtle Creek is just north of Downtown Dallas, between the Dallas North Tollway and Route 75. The Dallas Area Rapid Transit provides local bus service to residents, with stops along Maple Avenue and Cedar Springs Road. The neighborhood is also just 4 miles east of Dallas Love Field Airport and 18 miles from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
