Luxurious condos and historic homes

High-rise residential towers sit along Turtle Creek’s tree-lined streets. Older condo complexes built around the mid-1900s embrace midcentury modern design, including the Grande Dame of Turtle Creek, a Modernist high-rise building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Luxury condo complexes built throughout the early 2000s include The Plaza at Turtle Creek and The Vendome, where amenities include concierge service, private elevators and balconies with panoramic views of Downtown Dallas. Prices range from around $250,000 for an older, one-bedroom unit to $3.7 million for a three-bedroom penthouse. “You’ll also find some historic homes scattered throughout the neighborhood,” Lascsak says. “There are 80-to-100-year-old bungalows and Craftsman-style homes that typically have been restored or remodeled.” Most single-family homes are tucked in the northern portion of Turtle Creek and blend historic charm with modern amenities, with prices ranging from around $1.1 million to $3.1 million.

Neighborhood shopping center and restaurants

In the neighborhood's northwest corner is Turtle Creek Village, a shopping center where residents can grab a bite to eat at the Mexican restaurant Jalisco Norte or pick up groceries at Tom Thumb. Chic coffee shops and eateries line the western border of Turtle Creek along Oak Lawn Avenue. Union is a neighborhood coffee house sponsored by the Oak Lawn United Methodist Church, listed on the National Register of Historic Places due to its stunning Gothic architecture. Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen serves Cajun-style dishes in a cozy dining room with exposed brick walls. The Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek is an iconic hotel, and residents can dine on French-inspired cuisine at The Mansion Restaurant. The neighborhood is just east of Uptown, renowned for its nightlife scene and eclectic bars such as The Standard Pour.

Abundant green spaces with miles of multi-use trails

Nature surrounds residents in Turtle Creek. Along Turtle Creek Boulevard, Turtle Creek Park provides plenty of spaces for passive recreation with walking paths, benches and lush gardens dotted with azaleas. Arlington Hall anchors the green space, a historic Greek Revival-style mansion that’s now a popular venue for events. Further south is Reverchon Park, which features tennis courts, a sand volleyball court and a playground for kids to explore. The Katy Trail runs along the neighborhood’s eastern border, connecting locals to Uptown. “People bike, run and walk their dogs. There are also a few restaurants and bars along the trail,” Lascsak says.

Festivities at Turtle Creek Park

Events are held at Turtle Creek Park year-round. Popular festivities include the annual Day at the Races, a fundraising event for the Turtle Creek Conservancy that features live music, mint juleps and Southern cuisine alongside a big screen where locals can watch the Kentucky Derby.
