Once a land of farmers and cowboys
While residents of Martha Bright Farms enjoy quiet, secluded living surrounded by tropical greenery and glittering lakes and canals, the hustle and bustle of the city isn't too far away. Centered in the town of Davie, just west of Fort Lauderdale, small-town charm and big-town excitement are all easily accessible. Dozens of top-notch restaurants and small businesses are a short drive up the road. Travel a little farther in any direction, and world-class shopping centers and exciting things to do and see will come up, including the Everglades. The area was once a vast agricultural land, today reflected in its vibrant flora, buffered from main roads by other rural-leaning communities. “Back in the day, we were only farmers and cowboys,” says Davie West HOA President Susan Coyle, who lives in the neighborhood. Even though farms are moving out to make way for development, she says, “We’d have rodeos come to town from other places, and we have a local rodeo because we still have a lot of farms around.”
Plenty of architectural diversity
Many homes in Martha Bright Farms are modest ranch houses on large lots with two-car garages and broad or looped driveways. Several have stables on the property because of the high equestrian enthusiast population. Lush native vegetation and water features dot the properties and the narrow streets. There is more architectural diversity in the private Davie West section of the neighborhood, with minimal/traditional, Mediterranean, Key West, sprawling ranch estates, and other custom builds. Houses here have come up across several decades; a 2023 construction property can be found next door to a home built in 1972. “None of the homes are cookie-cutter. Every single house is different, and it’s an older neighborhood in the town of Davie,” Coyle says. “When I first moved into my house, half the neighborhood didn’t even exist, and that’s over 30 years ago, so there’s been a lot of growth.” While houses here don’t come on the market often, the recent sale price in this neighborhood ranges from $800,000-$1.4 million. HOA fees are $200 a year in the Davie West subdivision.

The Montessori Institute of Broward is a bilingual private school 3 miles away that caters to pre-K through sixth grade.
Asian fusion at Cilantro Asian Bistro
Martha Bright Farms is less than 2 miles away from shopping centers along State Road 84, including the Plaza at Davie, which has a Winn-Dixie. Cilantro Asian Bistro, also at the Plaza at Davie, is a highly rated Asian fusion restaurant with a laid-back, modern interior. Reviewers remark about the excellent service, drinks, and fresh food, particularly the sushi dishes. Paradise Poke Bowls and Sandwiches at the nearby Ridge Plaza is a family-owned cafe with healthy options like smoothies and açai bowls and breakfast options. Ridge Plaza has other entertainment, like the children's amusement center Off the Wall, a Paragon Theaters cinema, and the country music bar Round Up Night Club & Restaurant.
A nod to the former citrus industry
Just outside the neighborhood is Math Igler Citrus Park, a green space with playgrounds and covered benches. The area was once adjacent to a citrus grove, at one point a popular industry in the area. Robbins Preserve less than two miles away and has equestrian trails, play equipment, and a lodge for small events on dozens of acres of oak tree-spotted land. The preserve is also the site of the Town of Davie Community Garden, where locals can maintain a plot of their own or attend gardening workshops. The town has numerous other nearby neighborhood and pocket parks, like Owls Lookout Park, which was dedicated to protecting the burrowing owl population.
Transportation
Interstate 595 and the Port Everglades Expressway are a couple miles north of Martha Bright Farms. These highways provide easy connections to major highways like Interstate 75 to the west and Florida's Turnpike and Interstate 95 to the east. The closest commercial airport is Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, about 14 miles away. The nearest hospital is Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital, a 7-mile drive away.
