Park City
1960s manufactured homes and 1980s condos
Park City Estates welcomes anyone 55 or older to enjoy retirement in manufactured homes featuring covered carports, two bedrooms, moderate yard space and a nearby clubhouse. Most units were built in the 1960s and have soft-colored siding. “Unlike other areas, homeowners actually own the lots their homes sit on,” McCrillis says. “Most residents have second homes here and travel down from Canada to enjoy the warmer weather.” Those looking for more space head east of the golf course to check out the three-bedroom condos and townhouses in the Arrowhead community. Homes in Park City often range from $100,000 to $375,000. Rental and ownership opportunities wait for those interested in the quiet area, and most residents own their homes. Folks here thrive under the South Florida sun and are often outside walking, biking or riding around in golf carts. Both communities have pools available for residents who want to get some fresh air with their neighbors.Shooting for a hole-in-one at Davie Golf Club
The Davie Golf Club welcomes pro and amateur golfers to play the 18-hole course. “Some people drive their own golf carts from their homes over to the course,” McCrillis says. Park City residents and others from around the area play at Davie Golf Club because they don’t have to pay a membership fee to access the greens. Players have to avoid the occasional sand trap, pond or iguana. Those who aren’t interested in golf but still want a green space to enjoy visit Wes Griffin Park. Young kids can hang out on the playground equipment while their older siblings play on the basketball half-court or run around the open grass. Visitors can also walk their dogs along the paved path.Shopping and dining down South University Drive
South University Drive has all the shopping and dining Park City residents need. Some pick up bubble tea from the Jade Tea House before heading to Whole Foods for a quick grocery run. Others stop into The Original SubCafe to enjoy the retro diner interior and hot Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. Another neighborhood staple is Billy’s Tavern, a laidback spot that can get rowdy whenever the Pittsburg Steelers play. Locals catch the game while enjoying wings and a pint of beer.Multiple shopping centers border the neighborhood. Residents at Park City Estates head to Pine Island’s Ridge Plaza to visit the Publix or Bealls Outlet. Locals who want even more options for clothing stores, restaurants and beauty stores can go across South University Drive to the Tower Shops center to find a Home Depot, Ulta and Trader Joe’s.
Nova High trains great debaters
Fox Trail Elementary School sits 3 miles from Park City and gets a B-plus from Niche. Nova Middle School and Nova High School share a campus, but Niche gives Nova Middle a B. Nova High earns an A-minus and hosts an annual debate invitational. Students across Broward County visit to debate their points and strive for the finalist spot. Nova Southeastern University rests south of the high school and draws a crowd during the basketball and football seasons.Neighbors get together for Sounds of the Town
Park City residents pack their blankets and lawn chairs before setting out to the Bamford Sports Complex for the Sounds of the Town outdoor concert series from December to May. There, local bands gather one Friday every month to serenade visitors as they lounge with their food and drinks. Guests might hear a tribute band play rock n’ roll or a local artist on the rise sing brand-new country songs. No matter who’s playing, the concert series brings locals together for a good time outside.Beach bound on the I-595 Expressway
The Davie shuttle Blue Route 13 runs through Park City and gives residents easy access to the Tower Shops Center and Westfield Mall. The Interstate 595 Expressway runs along the neighborhood’s north border, making traveling 13 miles for a fun beach day in Fort Lauderdale a breeze. The expressway also connects residents to the turnpike when they want to visit Miami, 30 miles away. If locals prefer a trip to South Carolina for a beach vacation, they book a flight at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The airport sits close enough to the neighborhood that residents might notice the sound of airplanes overhead.
