Locals can also head to Markham Park, about 12 miles away from Interstate 595. The park is on the edge of the Everglades and is most popular for its public shooting range and observatory, which are connected by walking and hiking trails. Primarily made up of older buildings, many properties in Playland Village have seen renovations, leading to some fluctuation in pricing, but generally it is notably less expensive than surrounding neighborhoods. “Most of the homes in Playland village were built in the '60s, '70s and ‘80s, all well-built homes and easily affordable for working/middle income families,” O’Boyle says.
