City Schools of Decatur offers A graded schools

The neighborhood’s City Schools of Decatur has an A on Niche and serves over 5,600 students. Westchester Elementary and Beacon Hill Middle School have A grades and are ranked number one in DeKalb County. Beacon Hill is home to the International Baccalaureate Programme, which continues at Decatur High. Getting to Atlanta with the East Lake MARTA station

Interstate 75 and Interstate 285 are nearby, and Ponce de Leon Avenue offers a direct route into the city without using the interstates. Less than a mile away, the East Lake MARTA rail station connects to Midtown Atlanta and the airport via the Blue Line. In late 2023, new sidewalks, additional parking spaces, and shared road markers for cyclists were added to Adair Street. The neighborhood is 16 miles from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and 3 miles from Emory Decatur Hospital and Emory University Hospital at Wesley Woods.

Residents gather for picnics and trips to the dog park at the 4-acre Adair Park across from the U.S. Post Office. The park has a large playground with a small rock-climbing structure. Local youth sports leagues and Decatur High athletes often practice at Ebster Park, also home to the Ebster Recreation Center, which hosts programs throughout the year. The park also has a public swimming pool open from May through September for a small fee. The neighborhood is about 2 miles from Decatur Legacy Park, which spans 77 acres of protected forests and rivers and is home to wildlife like otters, rabbits and waterfowl. The park features a community-planted blackberry and apple orchard and the Kitchen Garden, a 2-acre garden with 30 plots.
