From there, they can enroll at C-plus-rated MacArthur High School, which boasts an Agricultural Academy program and a comprehensive athletics department. Those seeking a private education can attend Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, which Niche hasn’t yet rated. “We’re very involved in the community,” says Jennifer Brummer, principal of Our Lady of Lourdes. “We try to have a number of different charity drives every quarter.”

The neighboring community of Northland Heights features chain restaurants and familiar retail franchises like Target and Ashley Homestore. Diamonds Family Restaurant offers everything from Italian standards to fried chicken with a casual atmosphere. If you want an omelet for dinner, no problem—Diamonds serves breakfast all day. Walmart Supercenter and other grocery options are around 2 miles away.

Ride the Stevens Creek Bikeway
Named for the neighborhood it’s found in, Greendell Park is an 8-acre stretch of trees and streams that connects to the Stevens Creek Bikeway, a paved trail that extends 11 miles south. Cresthaven Park is a vast public space with playground equipment, pickleball courts and a winding trail that meanders through acres upon acres of woodland.
Residents love to use the bike trail along Steven's Creek at Greendell Park.

Public transit all over Decatur
The neighborhood doesn’t have many sidewalks and is car-dependent. But pedestrians, or those who prefer a car-less existence, can take advantage of the Decatur Public Transit System, which offers a bus system that goes all over the city and has several stops along West Mound Road. Downtown Decatur is about 4 miles to the south.
Montgomery Hills residents can use the local transit system to get around the rest of Decatur.

Local produce at the Richland Farmer's Market
Every Monday afternoon from July through the end of August, Richland Community College and its Student Farms organize a Farmer’s Markets. The indoor event features a variety of fresh, seasonal produce sourced from local farms, along with unique handmade crafts from local artisans.
