Dellwood provides options for first-time homebuyers
The Village of Dellwood in North St. Louis County, about 12 miles from downtown St. Louis, is a place where someone new to homeownership can get a good start. “Somebody who wants to have the independence of having their own home can find that here,” says Rebecca Harrington, a Realtor with RE/MAX who sells homes in the area and lives close by. “It’s a smaller, established community. It’s a diverse area. It’s near St. Louis Community College. It has convenient access to the highway and is commutable.”

With residents' approval, Dellwood’s founders incorporated the area as a village back in 1951. That’s when Dellwood was born. They have some bigger and some smaller, some brick, some frame, some two-story and of course ranch-style.” The median price for a single-family home here is about $115,000, with houses generally selling from around $90,000 to $120,000.
