Dutch Creek Village
Up-and-coming with a lot of potential
Craftsman, split-level and two-story ranch-style houses range from $300,000 to $850,000. A four-bedroom craftsman home can be listed for $650,000 to $750,000, while a two-story, ranch-style home can sell for $700,000 to $800,000. Townhouses typically begin in the $400,000s. Plateau Park is a community of craftsman-style townhouses built around 2005, off the Pierce Street and Coal Mine Avenue intersection. Pedestrians walk along Weaver Avenue to see two-story homes incorporating brick and faux cobblestone exteriors on well-manicured lots with paved driveways and two-car garages. Many of the homes in Dutch Creek Village have three dormer windows that peek through a tiled roof, giving a stylistic semblance of Spanish architecture. "I would say it's up and coming," says Mindi Sanders, who has lived in the south Denver area for three decades and works as a Realtor at eXp Realty in Englewood. "Some of the homes probably need updating, but as things turn over and new owners start coming in to fix up properties, it has a lot of potential."Exceptional schools
Kids can attend Leawood Elementary School, which has an active parent community and receives an overall grade of B-plus on Niche. Students may move on to Ken Caryl Middle School, which maintains an overall grade of B-plus and offers unique electives in topics like mechanics of engineering and jewelry making. With a history of high-performing academic and athletic departments, Columbine High School boasts an A overall grade. Clement Park boasts plenty of activities like shredding at the skate park, playing beach volleyball or running through the sprinklers at the splash pad. From Woodmar Square Park, explore the Lilley Gulch Regional Trail, a 2-mile path through parks and grasslands between Pierce Street and the Kipling Parkway. Chief Colorow Park features sidewalk paths and a jungle gym. The trail continues west through Lilley Gulch Park, where kids can scale the climbing wall and mountain-themed playground. The Lilley Gulch Recreation Center extends entry-level gymnastics courses or swimming lessons at the indoor pool. Over 1,000 people participate in the Lilley Gulch Recreation Center programs each summer. The Dutch Creek Trail is a paved path that slinks around a quiet stream along Coal Mine Avenue in the neighborhood's southeast corner. Taking a tunnel path underneath Pierce Street, the 2-mile Dutch Creek Trail lands in Weaver Park, a community green space with an entry point to other nature trails.Shopping spree at the Southwest Plaza mall
