Enjoying the outdoors at neighborhood parks and at Bear Creek Lake

The neighborhood is home to several outdoor amenities:

  • Sergeant Timothy M. Mossbrucker Memorial Park has a playground and a picnic shelter.
  • The Country West Greenbelt includes a paved trail through wetlands.
  • Bobby Hyatt Jr. Memorial Park is home to natural open space and park benches.
Bear Creek Lake Park is about a 15-minute drive away. Its 2,600 acres are home to three lakes and over 15 miles of trails. “There is a beach. And if you're driving along C-470 in the late spring, summer or early fall, you will see paddle boarders to the extent you could almost walk across the lake on paddle boards. It’s extremely popular. […] They do water ski lessons, believe it or not, on that little lake. It's fairly long; boats have to make a pretty good turn on each end, and it's one boat at a time. And so one, maybe two skiers, but they practice and learn how to water ski, wakeboard, et cetera, which makes for an interesting distraction if you're trying to watch traffic on C-470,” Cabalka says.
