Castle Rouge is located in a primarily residential and commercial area. If residents want a bite to eat or need to pick up groceries, most hop in the car and take Interstate 96 or Route 24 and head to a shopping center like Redford Plaza, where you can grab groceries at Sun Valley Supermarket or shop at Burlington. For a quick bite to eat, head to No Change Cafe. This local favorite serves home-style food like fried fish and their hash and eggs burger inside a corrugated metal interior.

Students in the area are part of Detroit Public Schools Community District, which has a C rating on Niche. The area's youngest learners begin their academic journey at Spain Elementary Middle School, which has a C-minus rating from Niche and serves grades K-8. The school is known for its fun student events, like its sneaker ball. Students were encouraged to wear their finest duds from head to toe and show off their finest footwear. Students are creative in more ways than one at Spain Elementary-Middle, with four students attending a Summer Theatre Program in the summer of 2023. Students conclude their secondary academic journey at Cass Technical High School, which holds a B-plus rating from Niche and offers industry certification programs and a Robotics club.
