Eminem's childhood neighborhood in suburban Detroit
While notable for being rapper Eminem's childhood neighborhood, Conner Creek's namesake stream has a longer and more current history. The creek flows southward and empties into the Detroit River and was a major food source for indigenous people. As the area developed, construction forced the waterway to flow underground, leaving no visible trace of the creek today. Yet, the name lives on in the gridded subdivision where a collection of homes is gaining renewed interest for their regionally competitive prices, proximity to retail and dining, and straightforward 9-mile commutes to downtown Detroit. Further, where the creek once flowed above ground, the Conner Creek Greenway project is again connecting the area to the Detroit River—this time via bike paths—and the community through events and programs.
Connor Creek is known for being a quiet, tight knit neighborhood located minutes from downtown.

Mostly single-story homes
Conner Creek is the result of mid-20th-century suburban development, and it shows. Cottages and bungalows with spacious yards line wide, sidewalk-flaked streets, and many areas have yard-wide channels of lawns between the street and sidewalk. Realtor Paul Nichols of Worth Clark Realty says, “There are large, fenced backyards for grilling, chilling, and entertaining family and friends.” Home prices vary from $30,000 to $95,000, making Conner Creek one of the city’s least expensive neighborhoods. The median home price is $53,500, up 10% from the previous year. “Whether homebuyers are looking to move into a home of their own or add to their rental portfolio, they’ve come to the right place,” says Nichols.

Bel Air Luxury Cinema and a handful of local restaurants
Conner Creek may be a small, primarily residential community, but it borders the famous 8 Mile Road, perhaps best known for its association with the local music legend Eminem. To the west, the road leads to an industrial area where Forman Mills, a discount retailer, is also located. Van Dyke Avenue runs perpendicular to 8 Mile and has restaurants and other businesses. Me & My Girls Soul Food cooks up a selection of classic soul food dishes, and Great Lakes Fish and Chicken is there as well. East on Gratiot Avenue, Detroit Blues Cafe is a lively bar with weekly events. Mike's Fresh Market is also along the road for grocery runs. Joe Randazzo’s Fruit & Vegetable Market is located at the southern end of the neighborhood.

The IndyCar road race takes place on the streets of downtown Detroit, which are blocked off and lined with spectator space so residents can watch all the action.

Much like Marruso, Wish Egan is home to a baseball field and basketball court, and a paved path surrounds the park. Bel Air Luxury Cinema is located within the neighborhood as well.
