Close to the Dearborn border, Gardenview Estates is a small residential neighborhood on Detroit's west side. Homebuyers are often drawn to the area's convenient location, with quick access to major highways and Downtown Detroit. Residents also enjoy proximity to expansive outdoor destinations and a variety of nearby shopping and dining options.
Midcentury ranch-style homes make up most of the neighborhood’s housing stock, but Realtor Tami Jo Schuetzler of Re/Max says there’s more development on the way. “There are some newer homes and condos there, and you’ve got some homes under construction as well. There’s some room for growth there,” she says. Some properties have been fully renovated with new roofs and updated electrical and plumbing systems, while others are sold as-is. Because Gardenview Estates is such a small neighborhood, listings don't hit the market very often. The average property value is in the $80,000s, which is similar to Franklin Park. The neighborhood tends to be a bit more expensive than the Joy Community but less than the Warren Avenue Community.
Gardenview Estates is part of the Detroit Public Schools Community District. Students in pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade may start at Henderson Academy, which offers programs on engineering concepts and music technology. Students can then continue on to Cody High School, which offers career-focused certification programs in fields like health science and public safety.
Nearby Stoepel Park has baseball diamonds and other athletic facilities, along with a paved walking path. Playgrounds and picnic areas with grills make it a popular spot for weekend cookouts or morning exercise. A short drive away, Rouge Park spans nearly 1,200 acres along the Rouge River. Miles of trails wind through forests and prairies, and the park includes sports fields, a golf course and swimming pools.
