Homes in Grand River-I96 start at around $45,000 and reach up to around $125,000. "There's still a strong market in this area," says Rob Funk, a Realtor with RE/MAX First. "I've still got multiple offers when houses go up on the market." The area has a mix of housing, with some needing significant repair. Others are in crisp condition with precisely maintained front lawns. "The biggest key is solid brick homes," says Funk. "Those houses have some staying power." Brick bungalows, Cape Cods and ranch-style homes are common. Some Tudor revivals in the neighborhood have handsome white siding, and Grand River-I96 has sidewalk-lined streets, so getting around the area is easy.

Industry certification programs and strong teachers at local schools

Students in the area are part of Detroit Public Schools Community District, which has a C-rating from Niche. The area's youngest learners begin their academic journey at Burns Elementary-Middle School, which has a C-minus rating and serves grades K-8. Students conclude their secondary academic journey at Cass Technical High School, which holds a B-plus and offers industry certification programs and a Robotics club. Students can also attend Cody High School, which received a B-plus for its teachers. The school offers a range of athletics programs, extracurricular activities and clubs for students to participate in.
