The Marche du Rouge in Midtown
Just 4 miles west of Gratiot Town, the intersection of 2nd Avenue and Canfield Street is home to the spring celebration known as the Marche du Rouge. The parade is a Detroit tradition to ward off the legendary Nain Rouge, a demon said to herald misfortune. Also held in spring, the Movement Electronic Music Festival occurs each year at Hart Plaza downtown. The festival showcases the city’s vibrant electronic music scene and commonly features more than 100 performances.
