Hubbell-Puritan is one of Detroit's dense suburban neighborhoods, loved by residents for its general walkability and proximity to parks and local restaurants.

Homes in Hubbell-Puritan tend to start at around $60,000 and can reach up to around $185,000. Properties in this area tend to be primarily brick, and you'll spot the comforting symmetry and dormer windows of colonial homes alongside the irregularly placed rough stone of Tudor Revivals. Cape Cods are also common along the neighborhood's streets, which are lined with sidewalks and some tree cover. Lawns here are edged and cut, and you'll often see shrubs and garden beds around the front door of each home and chain link fences marking out back and side yards. Properties tend to be close together in Hubbell-Puritan, so it's common for neighbors to know each other well enough to say good morning or even come over for a cookout or party.

For a bite to eat, head to Olympia Coney Island. This local staple serves up classic New York-style dogs with chili, mustard and onion on top. This casual spot has plenty of booths and tables to sit down and enjoy your dogs and a quick pick-up counter if you want to grab and go. For a plate of barbeque, stop by Southern Smokehouse; they've got ribs, mac and cheese and beef brisket, along with other homestyle favorites. If you need to stock up for the week, locals grab their groceries at Greenfield Market. It's within walking distance from much of the neighborhood and one of the benefits of living in a sidewalk-rich environment.

Students in the area are part of Detroit Public Schools Community District, which has a C rating on Niche. The area's youngest learners begin their academic journey at Spain Elementary-Middle School, which has a C-minus rating from Niche and serves grades K-8. The school is known for its fun student events, like its sneaker ball. Students were encouraged to wear their finest duds from head to toe and show off their finest footwear. Students are creative in more ways than one at Spain Elementary-Middle, with four students attending a Summer Theatre Program in the summer of 2023. Students conclude their secondary academic journey at Renaissance High School, which holds a B rating from Niche. Sports are a big part of life at Renaissance High, and it's common to see the community come out to support teams on game night. Students can also attend Cody High School, which received a B-plus rating for its teachers from Niche. The school offers a range of athletics programs, extracurricular activities and clubs for students.

Hubbell-Puritan is close to Peterson Playfield. This greenspace draws folks from all over the area looking to spend some time outside. From the tennis court and basketball courts to the baseball diamonds and walking trails, there's something for everybody at Peterson Playfield. Fields Playground is popular, too, especially for its tree-ringed field and pair of playgrounds. It's a favored spot for sitting under a tree and reading a book or taking the kids to play around on the jungle gym.

About 10 miles from downtown Detroit, Hubbell-Puritan is just off Route 10, making access to the rest of the city simple and convenient. There are also multiple bus stops around the area, so there are a few methods to get around the city living in this suburban neighborhood.
