Small town charm with proximity to York

Located about 8 miles from York, Dover provides small-town charm with a wealth of amenities nearby. “Folks like that it’s a quieter area and that Dover itself is a small, old town,” says Robert Argento, a York-based Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services. “It’s a rural area, so there’s not as much traffic, and it gives you a little bit of distance from the city, but you’re no longer than 15 minutes away from anywhere you want to be.” Founded in 1743, this historic community is surrounded by both outdoor amenities, including several city parks and local shops and dining. Proximity to Carlisle Road and U.S. Route 30 allows for easy access around the York area, and there’s also plenty of public transportation around as well.

Suburban comfort, from townhomes to colonials

Single-family homes line the short residential roads that make up the town, with townhomes and apartments parsed throughout the area. Prospective buyers can find a spacious ranch-style home that sits on a quarter of an acre for $240,000, as well as a historic home built in the 1920s that has maintained curb appeal for $225,000. Though many houses in the area are ranch-style, there is some variety, including cozy colonials with plenty of windows to let in natural sunlight and split-level homes, among others.
