Suburban streets, leafy parks and highly rated schools in West Dublin

West Dublin is a taste of midcentury suburbia in the East Bay. Situated at the western edge of Dublin, its curved streets are dotted with community parks, greenway trails and a wash of older homes built between the 1960s and '80s. It sits at the precipice of the East Bay’s meadowy hills and deep, forested ravines, just a few miles from Castro Valley. “I think it’s a great place to raise a family. The schools are great. And you can get a bigger house at a better price than if you live in the South Bay or San Francisco. That’s why so many people are moving here,” says Realtor Jameel Batshon of Century 21, who has lived and worked in Dublin since 2003.

Students attend some of the East Bay’s top public schools

Public schools are a major draw for West Dublin. Students can start at Dublin Elementary School and Wells Middle School, both of which earn A ratings. The last four years are spent at Dublin High School, an A-plus school and five-time winner of the prestigious California Distinguished Schools Award. In 2024, 98% of its seniors graduated, putting it well above the statewide average. “It’s a state-of-the-art high school with some really good sports programs,” Batshon says.

Parks, hills and trails within walking distance

West Dublin has several neighborhood parks nestled in its residential streets, putting them within walking distance for many residents. Shannon Park is among the largest at 10 acres. It features a playground, splash pad, shady picnic areas and a towering abstract sculpture by acclaimed artist Peter Voulkos. Those looking to immerse themselves in some East Bay history might check out Dublin Historic Park and Museums. This museum’s historic buildings transport visitors back in time to the mid-1800s when the region was a hotbed of Wild West gold mining. There are also trailheads in the neighborhood that rise into the surrounding hillsides, offering some lovely views of the cityscape.

We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
