Hillside homes draw buyers to views of the Chippewa River
North Side Hill is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Eau Claire. Founded in the 1870s, it was also one of the most geographically desirable areas in the city, with its hills, bluffs and views of the Chippewa River. Over time, though, as land was developed closer to downtown, the hillside neighborhoods became less popular. Today, however, many original homes and farmhouses are grabbing the attention of 21st-century buyers. “Residents are committed to bringing up property and housing values here in North Side Hill,'' says Kim Bump, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty Diversified. "While we have some rental and duplex properties, the number of owner-occupied and fully renovated homes increases yearly.”
Old-house fans and first-time homebuyers are drawn to North Side Hill for two reasons, says Bump, who has been a Realtor for almost six years. “For one, the quality construction of these old homes is hard to beat. Then, many homes here have large yards and river views.” Attractive pricing is another advantage in North Side Hill, with the median 12-month sales price at $209,000.
