Historic street names and architecture defines Presidents

When you're walking down streets named Jefferson, Madison and Adams and gazing upon historic homes, you can see the gravitas that the Presidents neighborhood carries. This small community on Edina's northwestern end is composed of less than a dozen blocks, many named after former Presidents, that are lined with single-family homes. Residents have a wealth of amenities close to the neighborhood, with suburban comforts waiting at home, which makes the Presidents community one of the most sought-after places to live in the area.

Tree-lined streets with room to walk, jog or bike

Streets ending in cul-de-sacs cut down on through traffic and less noise due to the neighborhood's proximity to the highway. You can find a midcentury Cape Cod home that's still in turnkey condition, with plenty of windows to let in natural light for your plants and a spacious lot size for $675,000, along with established single-level homes that start at $400,000. Wide, tree-lined streets make up most of the streetscape throughout the community, and though most roads don't have sidewalks, you'll still have room for a morning jog or afternoon walk with your pup.

Daily walking trails and multiple golf clubs

After a long day, head to Alden Park to unwind. This 5-acre park has plenty of space to nestle under a tree with a good book, and there are walking trails if you want to reach your daily exercise goal. Parents can take their children here to burn off some energy on the playground or play catch in the expansive green spaces. Dog parents can go to Van Valkenburg Park's off-leash dog area so their pups can make new friends. The dog park is one of many amenities in this 42-acre park, including several softball fields and a picnic area for an afternoon lunch. If you want to spend your day on the fairway, there are several options around. You can book a tee time at the public Meadowbrook Golf Course, a par-72 course that takes you through 18 holes of rolling greens, with water hazards and bunkers that will challenge players of all skill levels. You can become a member of the Interlachen Country Club, which is home to a historic golf course that has previously hosted championship events ranging from the US Open to the US Women's Open since opening in 1909.

Easy highway access and getting to Main Street breweries

In addition to the public transportation options along Excelsior Boulevard, residents have several major highways nearby if they want to start their commute or go on a weekend trip, including highways 7 and 169 and Interstate 494. You won't have to travel far for a good meal, though, with proximity to Main Street in downtown Hopkins, which is lined with craft breweries, plenty of eateries and the Hopkins Farmers Market that takes place from the summer into the fall months.
