Friendly neighbors and highly rated schools
This northwest Edmond enclave is highly sought after for its location. Realtor Judy Rutledge, with Keller Williams Central OK ED, says, “Homestead-Edmond is especially convenient, because you’re about equidistant to downtown and Mitch Park. There’s a shopping center right down the road, and the Edmond Soccer Club is right next door.” Rutledge has been a realtor in the area for nearly 30 years. “Your main problem with living here might be how to avoid all your friends dropping by on their way to or from the Walmart, or when they’re trying to get out of watching another soccer game,” she says. But convenience to Edmond’s shopping, dining and recreation isn’t the only thing about this location that makes it appealing to homebuyers. “Edmond schools are highly rated and well-regarded, too,” adds Rutledge. All this combines with competitive home prices to make Homestead-Edmond a draw.
Competitive pricing for traditional and ranch-style homes
Homestead-Edmond’s competitive prices are a large part of its appeal. Rutledge: “It’s one of the increasingly few and far between neighborhoods around here where you can get a nicely maintained home for under $300,000.” She explains that the fact that it’s not “way out in the boonies” is just icing on the cake. The Traditional and ranch-style homes available here range in price between $240,000 and $320,000, but the median sits comfortably around the $255,000 mark. With the median for the larger metro hovering around $315,000, Rutledge notes that these homes are “quite reasonably priced.” For a three-bedroom, two-bathroom Traditional style home built in 1993, featuring an attached two-car garage, large bay windows and a combination of ceramic tile and wall-to-wall carpet flooring throughout, buyers can expect to pay around $265,000.

Restaurants on the corner of 2nd and Broadway
Within 3 miles of downtown Edmond, residents enjoy easy access to shopping and dining galore. For their groceries, many stick close to home and visit the Walmart Supercenter just half a mile away at the corner of Danforth and Santa Fe. Uptown Grocery is also close by, near Mitch Park off Covell less than 2 miles northeast. But the bustling corner of 2nd Street and Broadway at the heart of downtown is where residents head for a night out or restaurants and boutiques with a local flair. “There’s a lot around that corner these days,” says Rutledge, explaining that the area has seen a rise in the number of new local businesses popping up in the last few years. “There’s basically every kind of food you could want and tons of fun things to do there,” she gushes.
