About a mile from Edmond’s town center, Kimberly Crossing gives residents convenience to downtown with the seclusion of a gated community. That, in addition to the highly-regarded Edmond Public Schools district, has attracted Oklahomans to this area. “The homeowners association here does a lovely job maintaining and updating the neighborhood. And that, combined with the fact that it’s a gated community close to downtown, makes it very popular,” says Mark Parrish, a Realtor with Whittington Realty.

Brick homes on manicured lawns
“It’s a quiet neighborhood, which is a little unique for one this close to the center of town,” says Parrish, noting that the privacy is due to the fact that the community’s gated entrance is usually closed. “People who don’t live here can’t just drive through it as a shortcut to wherever they’re going,” Parrish says. Traditional brick single-family homes are the primary option in Kimberly Crossing, typically listed between $240,000 and $360,000. “It’s close to the median sale price for homes in this area,” he notes, adding that it’s common for a Kimberly Crossing home to go under contract for more than the asking price. The neighborhood’s HOA takes care of community upkeep and upgrades, costing about $36 a month.

Highly-regarded Edmond Public Schools
“A lot of people move here for the schools because Edmond schools are great,” Parrish says. Kids in the area might start at Ida Freeman Elementary School, which received a B grade from Niche, until fifth grade. Cheyenne Middle School boasts an A grade from Niche and offers a program for students to take courses like advanced math or English for high school credits. After Cheyenne Middle, students will head to A-rated Edmond North High School. Edmond North is known for its academic excellence, with ACT scores higher than the national average and a near-96% graduation rate.

Oak Brook Shopping Center and proximity to downtown
Edmond and Danforth roads are two major thoroughfares in Edmond and are both less than a mile away from Kimberly Crossing. Both roads are lined with shopping centers, restaurants, and places to grab groceries like Aldi or Walmart. Hidalgo’s Mexican Restaurant and Cantina is a popular spot for a tasty margarita and its lively atmosphere. “They’re revamping Downtown Edmond, and they’re bringing in a lot of restaurants from Oklahoma City like Empire Slice Pizza and The Mule,” says Celeste Tribett, a Realtor with Block One Real Estate who has years of experience selling homes in the area. “They also do Heard on Hurd.” She continues to explain that the monthly festival runs from March to October, with dozens of local vendors and a slate of live performances.

Revamped neighborhood green spaces
Kimberly Crossing’s playground received a facelift in 2018 when the Kimberly Crossing HOA brought in Noah’s Park & Playgrounds to upgrade the play surface and climbing structures. “Things like that really show that the HOA cares about the upkeep of the community,” Parrish says. The park has a playground with new equipment, as well as green spaces. Kids at Chitwood Park can imagine that they’re taking off to the stars with the park’s spaceship-themed slide.
