Convenience and seclusion combine

In central Edmond, close to several of the city’s main shopping and dining areas, as well as a major park, The Trails is “definitely desirable for its location,” says Keller Williams Realty Elite’s Joseph Keck, a Realtor with going on five years of experience in the Edmond market. “It’s nice here, because you’re a little farther out of the hustle and bustle of the major city, but still accessible enough to just hop in the car and get any direction you need to go.”

Highly rated Edmond schools

Students here are served by the Edmond Public Schools system, one of the most sought-after districts in the OKC metro. “Edmond is definitely desirable as far as schools. I hear a lot of people say it’s a great place to raise a family because of the schools,” says Keck. Most youngsters between kindergarten and fifth grade go to Washington Irving Elementary, which earned an A grade from Niche in 2024. Kids who live on or south of Fairfield Drive go to Sunset Elementary, which earned a B-plus from Niche. Older students go to Heartland Middle and Santa Fe High, both of which earned A’s. Santa Fe High ranks seventh on Niche’s list of the best public high schools in the state. Santa Fe Wolves host the Double Wolf Dare Week each year, during which students come together and perform dares to raise funds for a nonprofit of their choice.

One park, tons of amenities

“Mitch Park is a huge draw. It’s just 2 miles northeast and there’s so much to do there,” says Keck. The 280-acre park has everything from sunny playgrounds, picnic areas and exercise stations to volleyball and basketball courts and lighted baseball and softball fields. There’s even a YMCA, the Edmond Skatepark, a disc golf course and more than 5 miles of paved, multi-use trails. Residents from around the city flock here for the annual Luminance walk-through light show each December and the summertime concerts in the outdoor amphitheater, too. “Anything that Mitch Park puts on is great,” says Keck. “It’s just a great local spot.”

Quintessential 1980s brick homes

The Trails showcases all the hallmarks of a classic Oklahoman suburb, from shade-dappled sidewalks and front-facing attached garages to tall wooden privacy fences around spacious backyards. 1980s and early 1990s-era Traditional-style homes line the wide, cul-de-sac-tipped residential streets. “It is a pretty traditionally suburban neighborhood,” says Keck, adding that the peaceful atmosphere is part of what makes the area so popular. He says homes on the market here typically go under contract in less than two weeks, but that one of his recent listings, a 1985 orange brick Traditional-style three-bedroom home with an attached two-car garage and original floral wallpaper and appliances in the kitchen, was on the market for three days. “That particular property needed quite a bit of updating, but it was priced correctly, so our days on market were extremely low.” At $230,000, Keck’s listing sold for close to the median for The Trails, but prices here can run anywhere from $200,000 to more than $500,000.

Shopping and dining galore

“Edmond has the most places to eat and there’s shopping just all over the place,” says Keck. For groceries and other everyday essentials, residents can head to either the Uptown Grocery across the street from Mitch Park or the Walmart Supercenter off West Danforth Road. “In terms of restaurants, you’ve got the new Louie’s, the Upper Crust, Hildago’s is right there close by and a HoneyBunny Biscuits just went up on Kelley Avenue near the park not too long ago,” Keck says. “There’s a lot of different options, whether you’re looking for something local or chain food.” Louie’s Grill & Bar, Upper Crust Wood Fired Pizza and Hildago’s Mexican Restaurant & Cantina are all less than 2 miles away.

Next door to main thoroughfares

“It’s very easy to get to and from wherever you’re going from here,” says Keck. Santa Fe Avenue, West Edmond Road and West Danforth Road, three main thoroughfares through the city, are nearby. Downtown is less than 3 miles east via West Edmond Road, a drive that typically takes only 5 minutes. The closest Citylink bus stops are located within 3 miles of most homes near the corner of West Danforth Road and North Santa Fe Avenue.
