Mohawk is a suburban neighborhood of Prichard, a small city just 5 miles northwest of Mobile, Alabama. Settled in the 1830s and incorporated in 1925, Prichard is known as the "City of Champions." Next, students attend Clark-Shaw Magnet School of Math, Science and Technology, with an A-minus Niche rating. The school ranks as the third-best public middle school in Mobile County and fourth-best in the entire state of Alabama. It's also been recognized twice as a United States Department of Education Blue Ribbon School, and it's the only Cognia-certified STEM school in southern Alabama.
Meanwhile, teenagers in the area attend Mattie T. Blount High School. The school was established in 1953 as a junior high school called the Engine Street School. In 1956, the community requested that the school be renamed to honor Mattie Thomas Blount, a dedicated and accomplished educator. In 2013, the first of the school's four academies was established, the Academy of Allied Health (Clinical Services). In the next few years, other academies were added: the Academy of Business Management Administration, Information Technology, Marketing Sales and Promotion, Academy of Human Services and JROTC Leadership and the Academy of Construction, Manufacturing and Transportation. Football is another popular pastime in Mohawk, and the school's football facility seats 6,500 people. For those seeking higher education, the University of Mobile is only 7 miles away, a 10-to 15-minute commute.

Just a short drive away is Chickasabogue Park, which boasts 1,100 acres of scenic, wooded surroundings. Visitors can explore the park's hiking trails, looking out for wildlife along the way. Chickasaw Creek offers a place to boat and fish, with bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish hiding within its depths.
Golf enthusiasts can try out the Magnolia Grove Golf Course. This stop along the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail features creeks, marshland and lakes, with 54 holes carving through indigenous hardwood and pine trees. When locals get hungry, they head to family-owned Cozy Brown's Kitchen. Owner Cozy Brown's passion for soul food and his community is seared into every one of his Southern comfort dishes. Residents love his fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens and cornbread.
