Military presence, cultural heritage and access to El Paso’s natural landscapes
Eisenhower’s Sahara, known locally as the Sahara, is a working-class subdivision with a strong military presence thanks to its proximity to the Fort Bliss army post. "Northeast El Paso isn’t particularly known for strong commercial and retail as much as it's known for natural beauty, commuter convenience and general affordability," says local agent Tracie Musshorn with Majestic Realtors. The Franklin Mountains State Park provide mountain views and nearby hiking, while the Castner Range National Monument protects thousands of acres of desert flora. The west-bordering Highway 54 offers residents a quick commute around the city.

Contemporary desert living
Homes here were built primarily between the 1960s and ‘90s, and ranch-style homes —typically considered starter homes —dominate the area. These homes typically range from $150,000 to $200,000. The neighborhood also features distinctive two-story Pueblo-Revival style residences alongside more Contemporary Southwest designs that blend traditional elements with modern aesthetics. These larger, more elaborate homes command prices between $250,000 and $300,000, with pricing heavily influenced by the property’s age and bedroom count. Newer four-bedroom homes typically occupy the higher end of this price spectrum, while older properties remain more affordable. Most homes in the area embrace desert-appropriate landscaping features, including xeriscaping, decorative gravel and low rock walls. The neighborhood’s wide streets are punctuated by drought-resistant vegetation, including palm and cypress trees.
