Suburban community with breathtaking views in El Paso

Set against the backdrop of the Franklin Mountains, High Ridge-Bear Ridge is a scenic suburban neighborhood in El Paso, Texas. Backlots consist of rock gardens and low-water plantings with a view into the wide plains of Texas before they meet the Franklin Mountains State Park, 5 miles away. Located just off I-10, residents are 3 miles from nearby retail, restaurants and schools, and 13 miles from Downtown El Paso. “It’s one of the newest communities in El Paso, sitting up by the mountain with spectacular views,” says Frances Montes, a Realtor for over 9 years with Home Pros Real Estate Group. “It’s a truly beautiful area with walking trails and parks throughout.”

Modern desert homes by the Franklin Mountains

El Paso is nicknamed “The Sun City,” and in High Ridge-Bear Ridge, the Texas sun greets residents almost every morning; on a windy day, locals might see a tumbleweed roll down the street. High Ridge-Bear Ridge's homes harmonize with this desert area’s natural colors. “People come here looking for a home with a view, a nice community and everything that an upscale house would have: tall doors and ceilings, granite and quartz materials,” says Montes. Most homes here are new construction from the 2020s; a ranch-style four-bedroom starts at $460,000 and custom, contemporary homes go for around $600,000 up to $1 million. Yards are dotted with palm trees, succulents and desert flowers. Some communities in the neighborhood have monthly homeowner’s association fees which range from $20 to $50.

El Paso Independent schools receive top marks

Local kids can attend El Paso Independent District schools like Tippin Elementary, rated A-minus and ranked the #1 public elementary school in the El Paso area by Niche. At Hornedo Middle, rated A-minus, students can join clubs like Dungeons & Dragons, ballroom dance and photography. Franklin High also receives an A-minus and offers courses in broadcast and print journalism, film and mariachi music.

Adventure and relaxation in High Ridge-Bear Ridge

Five miles away, Franklin Mountains State Park includes over 100 miles of dirt-packed trails, 14 campsites and the opportunity to rock climb in designated areas. In the heart of High Ridge-Bear Ridge, Cimarron Canyon Park offers a picnic pavilion and playground for a relaxing day out in the neighborhood. Two miles away, Cimarron Cove Park offers a playground and playing fields for pick-up soccer games; it’s also near the 8-mile Lost Dog Trailhead loop which leads bikers toward the Franklin Mountains.

Local food

With convenient access to I-10, High Ridge-Bear Ridge residents stay connected to everything in El Paso. Grab groceries at the local Walmart a mile away, or head 3 miles north to The Outlet Shoppes at El Paso for retail options like Disney, Old Navy and COACH. Ripe Eatery serves creative dishes like pecan-crusted salmon and ginger mushroom chicken, while The Riviera – Cocina & Cantina makes authentic Mexican food like street tacos and enchiladas. Thirteen miles from High Ridge-Bear Ridge in Downtown El Paso, find more restaurants like Sushi Itto for Japanese cuisine and Unbranded Tavern & Kitchen for tacos, burgers and cocktails.

Theaters, museums and festivals

Catch the latest movie and a bite at dine-in theater Flix Brewhouse a mile away. Downtown, the El Paso Museum of Art offers new exhibitions every year and art classes for the community or enjoy live theater at the historic Plaza Theatre. El Paso also hosts several annual events, like the White Sand Balloon and Music Festival, Sun City Pride Fest and the El Paso Puzzler Mountain Bike Race.

Getting around El Paso

Montes says High Ridge-Bear Ridge residents typically drive, and the nearby I-10 connects them with downtown El Paso 13 miles away; the SunMetro bus line runs through most of the city but has limited options in High Ridge-Bear Ridge. El Paso is on the border of the U.S. and Mexico, and it's 24 miles to Ciudad Juárez. For nearby medical care, the Hospitals of Providence - Transmountain Campus is at the neighborhood’s northern border, about 2-5 miles from residential communities. The El Paso International Airport is about 18 miles away.
