Lomaland is a residential neighborhood in East El Paso that offers suburban living not far from New Mexican and the Mexican border. Buyers find homes priced a little lower than those in nearby neighborhoods, plus they have access to Interstate 10 and convenient shopping and dining options.
Lomaland’s homes are primarily ranch-style, with three or four bedrooms and were built in the 1950s. They sit on compact lots, often landscaped with stones and other drought-resistant materials, and feature low fences. Prices range from $140,000 to around $200,000. Sidewalks line the residential streets, and mature trees dot front lawns.
The elementary school assigned to Lomaland is Loma Terrace Elementary, which rates a B-minus on Niche and is in the neighborhood’s center. Bel Air Middle, which has a B rating, and B-plus-rated Bel Air High are also assigned to the community. Students at Bel Air High can earn dual credit at El Paso Community College while in school and graduate with up to 30 hours of college credit. A-minus-rated Ysleta Independent School District serves the area and offers open enrollment; children can attend any school within the district. All schools in the district have boundaries and prioritize students living within each boundary.
Lomaland Park is near the neighborhood’s south side and features a covered playground, soccer field, basketball courts and tennis courts. Chapoteo Water Park is about two and a half miles away, and additional green spaces are in nearby communities. For indoor activities, residents head to the Sylvia Carreon Community Center, which offers a double gymnasium, weight room, game space and a fitness room.
Residents head to North Loop Drive and shop at nearby Walmart and Walgreens. Malls, shopping centers and big box stores are a few miles away near Interstate 10. Cinemark Cielo Vista movie theater, El Paso Community College, and a mix of local and chain restaurants are also located near I-10. Chih’ua Restaurant & Bar is a local favorite for its authentic Mexican food.
Interstate 10 runs along the neighborhood’s north border, runs through the city and connects to New Mexico to the north. Sun Metro buses stop along the major highways that border the rest of the community. El Paso International Airport is less than 8 miles away.
