Pebble Brook is in “heart of East El Paso”
Pebble Brook is a small neighborhood just southeast of El Paso International Airport. “It’s right in the heart of East El Paso,” says Charles Clark, broker of Clark Brothers Real Estate. Most houses were built in the 1970s. Today, the community trends young – the median age is 29 and about 35 percent of the 1,800 residents are younger than 18. “It’s a very popular area, and you don’t see a lot of turnover in these neighborhoods,” Clark says. “People tend to stay for a long time and sometimes now they've even gone to the second generation of the same family owning the property.”
Good schools in the Ysleta district
Part of the popularity of the area is the good schools, Clark says. Children in the neighborhood are served by the Ysleta Independent School District, one of three school systems in El Paso. Young children are zoned for REL Washington Elementary, which has a B-plus on Niche. They then head to the B-rated J.M. Hanks Middle School followed by J.M. Hanks High School, which has an A-minus. New World Montessori School, which serves infants through upper elementary students, is also located in the neighborhood.
Ranch-style homes under 2,000 square feet
Pebble Brook has close to 300 homes, most of them ranch style. The majority are between 1,100 and 2,000 square feet and prices range from $165,000 to $270,000. The walkable neighborhood, with sidewalks throughout, also has plenty of palm trees and other desert-friendly plants. Most have rocks or gravel in their front yards instead of lawns, due to the climate.
Playgrounds and splash pads nearby
The small Pebble Hills neighborhood park is just a few blocks south of the neighborhood and has a playground. Eastwood Park, also known as Album Park, sits to the east and has playgrounds, a skate park, tennis courts and a recreation center. Marty Robbins Park is about 5 miles south and has a pool and splash pad.
Nearby grocery shopping and the Cielo Vista Mall
A small shopping center sits in the northwest corner of the neighborhood and houses a Walgreens as well as the popular Italian restaurant, Trattoria Bella Sera. An Albertson’s grocery store is just south of Pebble Brook along Yarbrough Drive. The massive Cielo Vista Mall, with its multitude of retail stores, is only 4 miles southwest.
Transportation in and near Pebble Brook
“It’s a very convenient location,” Clark says. “It’s easy access to Fort Bliss, easy access to the airport, easy access to I-10.” The airport is about 5 miles away. U.S. Route 62 borders the neighborhood to the north, leading west to downtown El Paso and all the way easy to Lubbock. Yarbrough Drive and Lee Trevino Drive border Pebble Brook to the west and east, respectively. The Sun Metro bus system serves the area.
