Convenience and relatively low housing prices in Pebble Hills North

Pebble Hills North is a neighborhood in eastern El Paso, one of the fastest-growing sections of the Texas border city. Relatively affordable housing options and access to the Ysleta Independent School District, which Niche rates an A-minus, are two of the significant appeals here. “It’s a really nice area,” says Allison Dillard, a Realtor with Keller Williams. “There are lots of services nearby.” Residents can easily get to downtown El Paso and have convenient access to nearby shopping, dining, health care and recreation.

Brick ranch homes at comparatively affordable prices

Many homes in this area are brick ranch-style, and some have decorative elements that evoke Spanish Revival architecture and Southwestern aesthetics. Single-family homes prices generally range from $127,000 to $260,000. For comparison, the median home price for El Paso overall is roughly $270,000. On average, listings stay on the market for about a month, meaning sales move faster than the national average . Wide driveways and sidewalks are lined with well-groomed shrubs, palm trees and the occasional larger shade tree. Yards are small and often gravel-covered, and many properties feature attached garages for one or two vehicles. Other residential options are available, including townhomes, duplexes and apartments. For example, two-story rentals line Oasis Drive.

Ysleta schools include highly rated J.M. Hanks High School

Two elementary schools serve this neighborhood. West of Glen Drive, students can attend REL Washington International School, rated a B-plus by Niche. East of Glen, students can attend Pebble Hills Elementary School, which also earns a B-plus. Hanks Middle School scores a B, and J.M Hanks High School receives an A-minus. Students at J.H. Hanks High can apply to the school’s Early College High School, a program in which students can partake in the typical high school sports, electives and extracurriculars but also earn up to 60 college credits through El Paso Community College. Some students may even complete an associate degree in high school.

A car-dependent area close to downtown and the airport

Downtown El Paso is about 12 miles west via U.S. Route 62 and Interstate 10. The El Paso International Airport’s terminal and parking are about 6 miles away. Bus lines serve Edgemere Boulevard and Lee Trevino Drive. Most residents will likely want a vehicle, as the area is pretty dependent on cars. Two hospitals are within 5 miles: Hospitals of Providence East Campus to the east and Del Sol Medical Center to the south.

Public pools and nearby parks provide outdoor fun

Pebble Hills Park is the nearest green space, no more than 2 miles from anywhere in the neighborhood, with open fields and play areas. Skaters can ride at the skate park at Eastwood Park, also known as Album Park, while pet owners can bring their furry friends to the dog park there. Eastwood Park also has tennis courts and other sports facilities. When residents need a respite from the hot Texas summer, they can head to one of several public pools in the city, such as the Eastwood Heights Swimming Pool, or take in a movie at one of several theaters, such as Cinemark Cielo Vista Mall 14 and XD.

Neighborhood restaurants, convenient groceries and more shopping along Interstate 10

Residents can shop at Sunset Center south of the neighborhood and grab Mexican cuisine at Del Paso or farther down Lee Trevino Drive at Los Tres Gallego. A Food King grocery store is less than half a mile outside the neighborhood. An Albertsons and a hardware store are south of the neighborhood. “As far as gas, grocery stores, small restaurants, all that’s plentiful,” Dillard says. “But you have to go down to I-10 to do major shopping.” Indeed, big-box stores, chain shops and restaurants are available just off Interstate 10, about 3 miles south.

Viva! El Paso celebrates the city’s cultural heritage

Viva! El Paso is a celebration of four of the cultures that have impacted El Paso over the centuries, including indigenous peoples, Mexican, Spanish colonial culture and that of the American West. The show runs from June to August on Fridays and Saturdays and has occurred for nearly 50 years. In June, the Sun City Craft Beer Fest pours pints amid live music in downtown El Paso.
