Learning in the El Paso Independent School District

Getting around Sun Valley West and El Paso weather

Sun Metro provides bus stops along Rushing Road and Kenworthy Street. U.S. 54 leads to Downtown El Paso and the Bridge of the Americas border crossing in less than 15 miles. Heading north on the highway brings commuters to New Mexico. The nearest commercial airport is El Paso International. The summer months usher in dry heat and temperatures that can exceed 100 degrees. The area is prone to dust storms, especially during the late winter and spring. El Paso communities also face air pollution caused by idling traffic at the international border.

Fun at Veteran Park and Arlington Park

Around 2 miles to the north awaits Veterans Park. This El Paso green space has a dog park and skate park. The athletic fields host community league games for flag football, rugby and baseball. The recreation center offers an indoor gymnasium and a computer room. Arlington Park is a smaller outdoor space that's closer to the community. The basketball and tennis courts sit side-by-side. The Mimbela Family NorthEaster Parade

Locals can easily access northeast El Paso events, such as the 9/11 Heroes Run El Paso, held at Veterans Park. The Mimbela Family NorthEaster Parade, an annual tradition for over 45 years, is one of the city's longest-running parades.
