Convenience is key in Upper Vista Real
Upper Vista Real in east El Paso has been known for its convenient location since it was developed in the late 1990s. “This is a well-established neighborhood because of everything it’s near,” says Denise Weber, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty who is also a lifelong El Paso resident. Loop 375 on the community’s eastern edge reaches downtown El Paso and the U.S.-Mexico border. Several medical facilities and the Fort Bliss Army base are also nearby. Despite this bustling location, Upper Vista Real maintains a family-friendly character, with the Jane A. Hambric School at its core and Eastside Regional Park, El Paso’s largest city-operated green space, a short drive away. “It’s quiet even though it’s along the highway, so it’s a great place to settle down and raise a family,” Weber says.

Jane A. Hambric School is central to the community"
Kids can attend kindergarten through eighth grade at Jane A. Hambric School, which earns a B from Niche. Its 195-acre campus, which includes a baseball diamond and tennis courts, sits at the center of the neighborhood, but Weber says most students don’t walk to school. “That’s just something that isn’t super popular in El Paso. Kids take the bus, or their parents drive them.” During the school's arrival and dismissal times, a few lanes on surrounding streets are closed for carpool lines. Students may continue to B-minus-rated El Dorado High School, which offers extracurriculars like drill team and mariachi band.

Proximity to Loop 375, El Paso International Airport and Fort Bliss
Though the neighborhood has sidewalks, Upper Vista Real is a car-dependent community. Loop 375 connects with other highways, making downtown El Paso a 20-mile drive west. The Ysleta-Zaragoza bridge, 12 miles south, crosses the U.S.-Mexico border into Ciudad Juárez. Sun Metro buses in the neighborhood offer rides around the east side. El Paso International Airport and Fort Bliss Army are both about 10 miles northwest. Flight paths from both places go over the neighborhood, and locals occasionally hear aircraft noise. However, Weber says this doesn’t bother most people. “The noise isn’t constant. It’s just like a low whirring every once in a while.” She adds that locals often enjoy watching Fort Bliss’ jets. “If people know a jet is leaving the fort, they’ll run out to their driveways to watch it fly over.”

Several small parks and “The Beast” are nearby
Youth soccer teams regularly practice at Chester Jordan Park, a small green space behind Jane A. Hambric School. The neighborhood is less than a half-mile away from a few other places with playgrounds, including Loma Linda Park. Despite these small neighborhood parks, Weber says Eastside Regional Park, about 4 miles east, is the most popular recreation spot on this side of town. “Everybody calls that park 'The Beast' because the facility is massive, and there’s so much to do.” The contemporary-style recreation center, built in 2021, houses basketball courts, a track and a competitive swimming pool with enough seating for 800 people. Outside, visitors can float on a lazy river, glide down twisty slides and ride the surf simulator at Oasis Water Park. Though the park is open, it’s currently under construction while pickleball courts, baseball fields and picnic pavilions are added.

For instance, refrigerators filled with glass soda bottles line the neon-painted walls of Tacos Chinampa, which also has a drive-through. The street is also home to medical facilities, including an Ignite Medical Resort physical rehabilitation center and the Hospitals of Providence East Campus, which has a Level III trauma center and 218 beds.
