Vista Real East is on one of El Paso’s main highways
Situated along Loop 375, Vista Real East offers easy access to the rest of El Paso. “Loop 375 circles almost the entirety of the city,” says Denise Weber, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty who is also a lifelong El Paso resident. The freeway reaches places like downtown El Paso, Fort Bliss and the U.S.-Mexico Border. Although the east El Paso neighborhood is conveniently located, Weber says it's also traffic-heavy. “This is an ideal location for commuters because the highway leads to so many places, but any non-residential streets in the area are usually packed with cars, especially during rush hour.” Aside from Loop 375, locals will also find several big-box grocery stores and lively green spaces nearby.

Loop 375 and its on-ramps experience heavy traffic
Downtown El Paso is a 23-mile drive southwest on Loop 375. Weber says that the freeway’s Purple Heart Widening Project often affects traffic. “The city has been widening the loop since 2022," she says. "Lanes are constantly closing and reopening.” Construction is expected to be done by the end of summer 2025. The neighborhood’s northern and southern streets have on-ramps entering the freeway, and they regularly experience heavy traffic. Sun Metro buses in the area follow routes around El Paso. Locals can cross the U.S.-Mexico border into Ciudad Juárez, about 11 miles south. El Paso International Airport and the Fort Bliss Army post are less than 12 miles northwest. Flights from both places go over the neighborhood, and locals occasionally hear aircraft noise. The Hospitals of Providence East Campus, just off Loop 375, has 218 beds and a Level III trauma center.

Kids can attend Elfida P. Chavez Elementary, Montwood Middle and Montwood High School, all of which earn B grades from Niche. Weber says locals frequent the elementary school’s playground, even when school isn’t in session. “Whenever I drive past that playground during the summer or after school, there are a ton of kids running around," she says. "Local kids use it like it’s a public park.” The high school has a STEM magnet program with computer science and robotics classes.

Several other Walmart Supercenters sit along the Interstate 10 shopping corridor, about 10 miles southwest. “El Paso is Walmart-obsessed. I think we have almost 20 of them here,” Weber says. I-10 is known for other stores, too. “Everybody goes there for heavy-duty shopping trips because it has some of the city’s biggest shopping centers,” she says. The Fountains at Farah is an open-air shopping strip whose stores include Ulta Beauty and Nordstrom Rack, while Cielo Vista Mall is home to more than 100 retailers, ranging from Apple to Macy’s.

Arbor Green Park and other east El Paso recreation spaces
Parents push kids on swings, and basketball players play pick-up games on the concrete court at Arbor Green Park along Manny Aguilera Drive. Several other green spaces are less than 3 miles away. A walking path surrounds bowls, ledges and rails at Dick Shinaut Skate Park. Weber says Eastside Regional Park, locally known as “The Beast,” is a major draw for the area. “People want to live as close to that park as possible,” she says. Opened in 2021, the contemporary-style recreation center houses fitness equipment, basketball courts and a natatorium for competition swimming. Outside, blue umbrellas shade lounge chairs around the lazy river, twisty slides and rock climbing wall at Oasis Water Park. Tennis courts and baseball diamonds are expected to open at the park by summer 2026.
