Retirees enjoy small-town living along the Anclote River
Anclote River Acres offers outdoor recreation on land or on the Gulf of Mexico. The neighborhood is surrounded by various citrus trees, including calamondins and kumquats, and two expansive nature preserves. Its rural, jungle-like feel draws homeowners looking for solace from otherwise busier tourist spots on Florida's Suncoast. “It’s one of those areas that’s not packed with people like Clearwater,” says Noah Rouse, general manager of Anclote Village Marina. “You don’t have to make dinner reservations everywhere. We still have everything, but we aren’t in the middle of nowhere.” Rouse adds that Clearwater and its commercial beaches aren’t far, so residents—often retirees referred to as “Snow Birds”—enjoy the neighborhood’s small-town appeal and nearby tourist attractions.
