A northwest suburb surrounding Bowes Creek Country Club
Open space is a hallmark of life northwest of Elgin: cornfields, golf courses and plots of land staked out for new developments. Situated between Bowes Creek Country Club and vibrant nature preserves, subdivisions in Bowes include homes built in the last two decades and ongoing construction of future homes. Although the surrounding green space is a major draw to Bowes, nearby shopping and dining along Randall Road, a main commercial strip in Elgin and other northwest suburbs, is also contributing to the area's growth. Residents can enjoy the comforts of rural living without sacrificing suburban conveniences.
Bowes Creek Country Club is a beautiful public golf course that many residents really enjoy.
Bowes Creek Country Club in Elgin is a hub for the community to enjoy and spend time at.

Golf greens and pocket playgrounds
Outdoor recreation is available throughout Bowes. Bowes Creek Country Club attracts golfers from surrounding northwest suburbs, but the greens and fairways are just beyond the backyards of Bowes. The public 18-hole golf course includes almost 7,000 yards of professional tees resting on rolling hills, rocky bluffs and wetlands, as well as a 30-station driving range. Inside the individual communities are pocket parks and playgrounds. Beyond the subdivisions, forest preserves surround the area. Bowes Creek Woods Forest Preserve is the closest and has trails often used for biking, walking and horseback riding. Forty acres of woodlands filled with towering oak, hickory and cherry trees sprawl to the north at Fitchie Creek Forest Preserve. These woods give way to picturesque views of its meandering creek and a 2-acre placid pond. The preserve offers a horseback riding trail and multi-use trails for cyclists, hikers, bikers and dog walkers.

From Cedar Grove to Bowes Creek Country Club
Developments in eastern and northern Bowes sport views of Bowes Creek Country Club, while equestrian farms, dense woodlands and the steeples of Northwest Bible Baptist Church are familiar sights to the west. The Regency at Bowes Creek Country Club is a 55+ townhouse community with its own social director and access to an exclusive clubhouse. Single-family, detached homes around the country club are mostly custom and builder-planned New Traditional and Colonial Revival homes on double lots with three-car garages. Houses along Corron Road are mostly custom builds at the end of long driveways on two or more acres. This road leads north to Cedar Grove, a subdivision with New Traditional townhouses and standalone homes. Throughout the area, prices range from $300,000 to $660,000, with townhouses on the lower end and detached homes on the higher end.

Traversing Elgin and reaching downtown Chicago
Bowes is far enough away from downtown Chicago to keep a distinctly quiet, suburban feel but close enough to commute to the Windy City if needed. “I grew up in Chicago, but when I decided to start my family, I wanted to move to a small city that was a little quieter,” says resident Tianna Alston. “However, I wanted to still be close enough for me to go back and see my family. Chicago is only about an hour's drive.” Commuters can take U.S. Route 20 to reach downtown, about 48 miles to the east. Elgin Station, 8 miles away, runs Metra trains via the Milwaukee District-West line to Chicago Union Station six days a week. Elgin is also where residents find healthcare centers, with Ascension Saint Joseph – Elgin 6 miles away and other medical facilities lining South Randall Road. Chicago O'Hare International Airport is 34 miles away.
Hop on the Metra train when needing to commute to and from Chicago for work or pleasure.

Dining and shopping on Randall Road
Aside from Johnny's Supper Club—the retro Italian-style restaurant within the Bowes Creek clubhouse—residents have to travel to commercial strips to the east for their essentials. “Everything is on Randall,” says Chris Bishop, a broker with @properties who has sold homes in Elgin. “There’s shopping, dining options and even medical centers all up and down Randall Road.” Jewel-Osco, Walmart and other big box stores line this stretch, along with Target and T.J. Maxx in South Elgin Commons. The Village Squire, also located in South Elgin Commons, is a laid-back, English tavern-style grill and bar. Sushi Café is a block north and serves a wide selection of sushi rolls and ramen.
