Tucked between Goshen Avenue and the eastern bank of the Elkhart River, Baker Park is a primarily residential neighborhood on Elkhart’s south side. It's known for its early 20th-century homes and proximity to park space on both sides of the river. “Baker Park is a vibrant neighborhood characterized by its tree-lined streets and a mix of two-story homes and bungalows,” says Lucinda Lowe, Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services. “Its prime location offers the best of both worlds, being conveniently close to downtown while also adjacent to Studebaker Park.”

Antonio's Italian serves championship-caliber pizzas
Family-owned Antonio’s Italian Restaurant has been a Baker Park and Elkhart institution since 1979. “Antonio’s offers true, authentic Italian cuisine with a cozy atmosphere,” Lowe says. Though the restaurant has a full food and wine menu, it’s particularly renowned for its pizza, which earned first place at the 2019 International Pizza Competition in Las Vegas. Neighboring Family Dollar and Supermarket Los Chamos are available for grocery and convenience needs, and it’s less than a 2-mile trip to Martin’s Super Market downtown.

Studebaker Park reachable by footbridge
Baker Park’s namesake park is a mostly wooded area with a clearing that features a playground. A footbridge across the Elkhart River connects it with the much larger 42-acre Studebaker Park, which is one of the highlights of the Elkhart park system thanks to its kayak and canoe launch, playing fields, playground and pickleball courts. Just a mile west of the neighborhood, the National New York Central Railroad Museum provides a window into the history of the New York-to-Chicago railway that was instrumental in Elkhart’s development as a young city and features full-size historic locomotives on display.
