A view of The Saint Joe east of downtown
Between the factories where many Elkhart residents go to work and the river that serves as Elkhart’s favorite playground, Riverview East is a tree-filled neighborhood that many in Elkhart choose to call home. Some of the city’s most valuable homes are in the neighborhood, taking advantage of their access to the Upper Saint Joseph River. “Living on the Upper Saint Joe is very desirable,” says area resident Mark Krol. “You can get really big, nice houses on the water.” But most of East Riverview’s residents don’t live on the river. South of Jackson Boulevard, the neighborhood’s grade school and park are significant draws for families.
