Pierre Moran Library offers bilingual programming

Residents are within walking distance of the Pierre Moran Branch of Elkhart Public Library. “At our branch, our larger program is weekly storytimes,” says Jarret Mitchell, the library’s branch manager. Families gather to hear stories and participate in activities in both English and Spanish. “We have a large bilingual staff.” Mitchell says the library strives in many ways to meet the diverse needs of the local community. “We did undergo a whole remodel in 2022, and we expanded,” he says. “The community was asking for more spaces and meeting rooms that we didn’t have.”

Pierre Moran Park is connected to Pierre Moran Middle and is a half-mile from the neighborhood. Here, teens try out tricks at the skate park and locals of all ages walk or jog the middle school’s track. During the summer, families descend on the public pool, which has a water slide, lap pool and shallow section with play equipment for young children.

Oakland Lanes bowling alley offers more family-friendly entertainment, and adult soccer leagues play at Soccerland, an indoor field.
