Charm, community and commuter routes in Cherry Hill
Ellisburg is a quiet suburb in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, offering convenient access to shopping centers, parks and commuter routes to Philadelphia, 10 miles west. "You have a lot of reasons why someone would be interested in Ellisburg," says Elyse Greenberg, a Realtor with Weichert Realtors Cherry Hill and over 17 years of experience. "Our attraction is you're going to find more square footage of home than Philadelphia, ease of parking, ease of transportation and a great school system all here in one place." Key amenities include the nearby Cherry Hill Mall, Cooper River Park and Cherry Hill Station. "It's a suburban area," Greenberg says. "The neighbors are warm and welcoming, but people aren't going to infringe upon your space."

Ranch and Colonial home styles in planned subdivisions
Ellisburg offers a diverse range of housing, typically dating to the mid-20th century, but there has been some 21st-century construction as well. "There's everything from apartments and condos to townhouses and single-family houses," Greenberg says. Single-family homes are generally ranch-style or Colonial-inspired, and features like attached garages, backyard patios and front lawns dotted with trees are typical. "Most homes were built in the 1960s — that's when Cherry Hill went through a development boom," Greenberg says. "A lot of these homes are like time capsules. You might find old carpets covering beautiful hardwood floors that look new." Single-family homes range from about $300,000 to $800,000, depending on a home's size and features.
There are also a couple of condo communities, including Playa del Sol, whose monthly association dues of about $300 grant access to shared amenities, including tennis courts and a community pool. Condo prices range from about $150,000 to $400,000.
Larger families can find colonial homes in Ellisburg with 2 stories for extra square footage.
For single story living in Ellisburg, look for ranch style architecture.

Play, fish and explore at parks in Haddonfield and Cherry Hill
About 2 miles away, a chain of parks extends through Haddonfield and Cherry Hill. "There's a combination of smaller neighborhood parks and bigger parks," Greenberg says. The 350-acre Cooper River Park offers bike paths, an area for dogs and space for sports like softball, golf and bocce. The Cooper River runs through the park into Cooper River Lake, a boating and fishing lake stocked with largemouth bass and black crappie. The 30-acre Pennypacker Park is another highlight, known among dinosaur enthusiasts as the first discovery site for a near-complete Hadrosaurus fossil. There's also Croft Farm, popular for its hiking trails lined with mature beech and oak trees; birdwatchers may spot dark-eyed juncos, gray catbirds and red-winged blackbirds. "You can actually rent the pavilions there for parties," Greenberg says. Nearby, Jake's Place is an inclusive playground in Challenge Grove Park. "The play equipment is designed to be accessible to all children," Greenberg says. "It's a very special place for kids of all ages to come together and enjoy."

Quick bites, takeout and shopping around the community
The Ellisburg Shopping Center is the area's go-to for shopping, dining and beauty services, including hair, nail and pet salons. Whole Foods and MOM's Organic Market cover groceries, while Honeygrow and Dave's Hot Chicken are popular for fast-casual bites. Ming Gardens has Chinese takeout staples like shrimp fried rice and mapo tofu, and Fevzi's Mediterranean Grill offers BYO pita sandwiches, lavash wraps and grain bowls. "Shopping centers are all over the place," Greenberg says. "You can't go far without hitting a store somewhere, but one of the things that put us on the map is the Cherry Hill Mall."
The Cherry Hill Mall is about 2 miles away with over 1.2 million square feet of retail space and more than 150 businesses, including anchor stores like Macy's and Nordstrom. "People travel from all over for Cherry Hill Mall," Greenberg says. "For us, it's just shopping, and for other people, they're wowed."

"No matter the time of the year, you'll always find something," Greenberg says.
