Bellewood
Vintage homes with modern updates lend a unique style to the neighborhood
Many homes in the area were built between the 1950s and 1960s, lending it a vintage charm reflected across various ranch-style and bungalow homes throughout the neighborhood. Many of these homes feature recent updates that maintain their original character. “You’re seeing a lot of original homes in the neighborhood being updated and made more modern,” says Harris. “And there’s a bit of new construction as well, so it’s a nice balance of the old-school style with the new.” Home prices start at around $450,000 for bungalows and established ranch-styles, while more modern examples can reach up to $700,000. Custom and new traditional two-story homes are also available and range from $700,000 to $900,000.Englewood High prepares the leaders of tomorrow at its Englewood Leadership Academy
Elementary students can begin at Cherrelyn Elementary, which earns a C rating from Niche. The school is in the neighborhood and is walkable for many. Students can then move on to fellow C-rated Englewood Middle School before finishing up at B-minus-rated Englewood High School. Englewood High features the Englewood Leadership Academy, which features programs that foster community involvement. “The schools are a little bit smaller here,” says Harris. “It’s a nice option for parents who don’t want to send their kids way far out for school, and the class sizes are usually smaller too.”Go on a hike or catch a Rockies game
Duncan Park in the south side of the neighborhood has a playground, basketball court, open fields and a place for dogs to run off-leash. Bates-Logan Park sits just outside of Bellewood and features playgrounds, open spaces, and picnic areas and it regularly hosts movie nights. Belleview Park is just a short drive away and features a miniature train and petting zoo for younger residents, along with access to the South Platte River Trail for mountain bikers and hikers. Residents looking to catch a Rockies game are just over 10 miles from Coors Field. Though only a few miles outside of Denver, the neighborhood’s suburban nature makes it much easier to reach nearby outdoor hotspots like Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre – less than 15 miles from the neighborhood.Plenty of options line South Broadway
Shopping and dining flourishes along South Broadway—an extension of Denver’s iconic Broadway strip—and East Hampden Avenue. King Soopers and Safeway cater to grocery and daily essential needs, while restaurants like Breakfast on Broadway—a community staple known for its hearty morning classics—provide dining options. Undici Ristorante is a local favorite for its authentic Italian cuisine. Englewood CityCenter features a unique blend of retail options and public services, with stores like Ross alongside the area’s public library. Local businesses find ways to support the community around them, with Harris saying: “Some of the businesses that sponsored my little league team 40 years ago are still sponsoring the teams to this day – that’s the kind of small-town community stuff that you don’t always get in more urban places nearby.”Get to the Mile High City in 20 minutes
Residents can access U.S. Route 285 via Hampden Avenue and get to the Mile High City within about 20 minutes, while South Broadway provides its own direct route to Downtown Denver. Englewood Station provides RTD light rail access for commuters, while bus stops are also available. The Denver International Airport is just over 30 miles away, while the Swedish Medical Center and Craig Hospital are both less than three miles from the neighborhood.
