Centennial Park
Mid-century single-family homes in the suburbs
Most homes in Centennial Park are lined along wide residential streets and have grassy front lawns often surrounded by mature trees. Some properties have driveways, but street parking is also allowed. Mid-century ranch-style homes with brick exteriors are the most common housing type. There are also a handful of minimal traditional, single-family homes and bi-levels built between the 1950s to 1980s. Prices range from $400,000 to $700,000. “The homes have a pretty nice layout. They’re a good size but are low maintenance. Some of them have a full-sized basement,” Sena says. Contemporary condo buildings are found close to the neighborhood’s namesake park. These units come with balconies and cost around $200,000 to $270,000.Neighborhood green spaces and South Platte River’s recreation
Centennial Park’s namesake green space is a mecca for outdoor recreation. There are two playground areas, a basketball court and three baseball and softball fields. According to Sena, multiple community baseball leagues host games at the diamonds. The park’s lake allows fishing, and a paved walking path follows its perimeter. Less than 2 miles away, Cornerstone Park also has 3 baseball fields, plus a cricket pitch, inline hockey rink, skate park and pickleball courts. Close by, Littleton Golf and Tennis is a membership organization with an 18-hole golf course and six indoor tennis courts available all year. In addition to the parks, the neighborhood’s location along the South Platte River provides plenty of natural recreation. “There are extensive biking trails and hiking trail systems that follow the Platte River,” Sena says. “You can also kayak or float down the river when the water is high.”Getting educated in Sheridan public schools
Children living in Centennial Park can attend schools in the Sheridan School District. Alice Terry Elementary School earns a B-minus grade from Niche and teaches kindergarten through second grade, while Fort Logan Northgate handles third through eighth grade and has a C-minus. Students at the C-rated Sheridan High School can take Advanced Placement courses and earn a Seal of Biliteracy.Nearby shopping centers in Sheridan and Littleton
While the neighborhood itself is primarily residential, it’s surrounded by commercial areas with essentials. Centennial Shopping Center has a King Soopers for groceries, plus a handful of fast-food eateries like Taco Bell and Dairy Queen. There’s also a Lowes and Home Depot in the area. Riverside Downs is another nearby strip mall with small businesses and local restaurants. Toast Fine Food & Coffee is a casual breakfast restaurant, and Beyond Thai serves traditional cuisine. Almost 4 miles north of the neighborhood is the River Pointe at Sheridan shopping mall, which has a Target and Costco. There are retailers like Sportsman’s Warehouse, and dozens of chain eateries like Panera Bread and Parry’s Pizzeria & Taphouse. Downtown Littleton is roughly 3 miles south with its own selection of novelty shops and local restaurants.Navigating in and around Centennial Park
Centennial Park’s numerous bike paths, walking trails and sidewalks create a pedestrian and cyclist-friendly community. There are also numerous Regional Transportation District (RTD) bus stops throughout the neighborhood. U.S. Route 85 travels east of the area and can be used to reach downtown Denver, about 10 miles north. Colorado state Highway 88, known as Federal Boulevard, is another major route. The Denver International Airport is roughly 33 miles away.
