The city is known for its transit-oriented layout, healthcare and modern urban development. “Englewood is fiercely independent, quirky, gritty, creative and innovative. It has managed to maintain its own identity – a small-town feeling – all while embracing future development,” says Chris Harguth, the City of Englewood’s Director of Communications.
Englewood’s top industries include healthcare, telecommunications and finance. The city’s wellness district is home to the HCA HealthONE Swedish Medical Center and Craig Hospital, employing hundreds of health providers in the area. Downtown Englewood is sectioned into three districts with retail and dining. CityCenter is a 55-acre, mixed-use district with apartment buildings sitting atop name-brand retailers. At the center of downtown, South Broadway is a walkable main street area lined with local shops, such as clothing boutiques, thrift stores and bookstores, and restaurants, like casual bistros, breakfast spots and pizzerias. “Englewood’s culinary scene is a reflection of its diverse community,” Harguth says. “The city’s ‘Eat, Explore, Enjoy!’ campaign encourages residents and visitors to experience all the food, drinks and art offerings.”
Lastly, the wellness district is a hub for healthcare, with numerous small businesses such as salons and alternative medicine clinics. When the weather gets warmer, the Englewood Summer Market has a lineup of fresh produce and homemade products at the Civic Center.
