Mountain community on the edge of downtown
Northeast of the decorated local establishments on Main Street, Birch is a spacious mountain community on the edge of Enumclaw. With plots of farmland and a short drive to events in the town center, Birch seemingly accommodates a variety of lifestyles in a rustic neighborhood roughly 45 miles south of Seattle. “It’s Main Street USA with restaurants, shops and a walkable downtown,” says Melissa Hudson, Real Estate Broker at KW Mountains to Sound Realty with over 7 years of experience in the area. “It’s small-town America. People know you, and you know your neighbors.”
Ranch-style homes on gravel roads
Farms, stables and pine trees sit along the gravel roads in Birch. This neighborhood is comprised of Craftsman and ranch-style architecture with bungalows and farmhouses built in the 1960s. Vaulted ceilings are a common feature of these country-style homes, which typically sit on sprawling lots that span up to 5 acres. Properties are horse-friendly, with riding arenas and barn space. Prices range from $450,000 to $1.2 million for homes over 2,500 square feet closer to downtown Enumclaw. “People like the small-town vibe here versus being in a big city,” Hudson says. “You can get a little house that is walkable to downtown for $500,000, which is hard to get in King County.”
