Park-front suburbia in southeastern Evansville
Named after William Akin, a local businessman and equestrian from the early 19th century, the community of Akin Park is known for its lively history and secluded feel. Located in southeast Evansville, this neighborhood's namesake park was once used as the community's fairgrounds, hosting everything from horse racing to a traveling circus. Today, while the park is significantly smaller—it now features a gazebo, playground and basketball court—prospective buyers are still attracted to Akin Park for the views and its charming homes. “It’s a nice place to raise a family,” says Evansville native Stephanie Gibson. “Folks tend to stay here into retirement and long after children graduate.” While offering a quiet reprieve from city life, Akin Park residents are still just 2 miles from downtown Evansville and its amenities.
The Akin Park neighborhood is less than a two mile commute to Downtown Evansville.

Price points can range from as low as $50,000 for a two-bedroom Cape Cod-style fixer-upper to upwards of $300,000 for a larger four-bedroom Colonial with unobstructed views of Akin Park. Streets are laid out in a grid pattern with paved sidewalks leading residents to the park at its center.
