Fair Oaks Ranch was first founded by oil man Ralph Fair in the 1930s. It started as a ranch and racehorse operation that began to develop into a residential area in 1975. Just a few years later, the sprawling Fair family home became a country club. Many of the streets and parks in the area are named after some of the community’s founding members.
Most of Fair Oaks Ranch is built around the massive world-class Country Club Golf Course.

In this neighborhood, you’ll find brick and stucco new construction homes that range in price from $330,000 to $790,000. Two-car garages are common and homes can be anywhere from 1,600 to 3,700 square feet in size. Sharply peaked or flat-topped roofs add character to the shape of the homes. Lots are 5,000 to 30,000 square feet and often boast lush green lawns shaded by mature trees. A rating for Fair Oaks Elementary
Students in this neighborhood can attend Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary, which received an A rating from Niche and has been rated the No. 8 best public elementary school out of 356 in San Antonio. Van Raub Elementary School is another option and one of the newest schools in the area. Boerne Middle School South also received an A rating and has just over 900 students with a student-teacher ratio of 16 to 1. It has been rated the #1 public middle school in the county and is known for its strong tennis program.

Keep an eye out for the wildlife in Fair Oaks Ranch, which can be enjoyed in spacious parks and on stunning trails. Cibolo Creek Nature Trail Park is a great place to start. Or visit Vestal Park, a 7-acre park with a .35-mile walking loop and shaded benches. Boots Gaubatz Park is a great place to visit with friends and test your skills on the disc golf course, which welcomes players of all levels.
At the center of the neighborhood, you’ll find the sprawling, world-class Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club. Numerous homes line the golf course, an 18-hole championship course designed by the well-known Gary Player who is responsible for designing hundreds of courses.
