Townville
Townville is a place for boating, fishing and camping
Broyles Recreation Area has lakefront access and a playground. Visitors often swim in the water; others catch bass, catfish and walleye in the man-made reservoir. Visitors gather to sunbathe or stroll on the sandy coastline during the warmer months. Locals also enjoy outdoor retreats close to home. Several boat ramps line Lake Hartwell's shoreline, including the Apple Island access point and Hattons Ford boat ramp. "We have lots of outdoor recreation and campgrounds are right in town," Turpin says. Camping sites are available at Coneross Park and Weldon Island Recreation Area. Turpin says locals are more likely to hunt on private lands, which requires permission from the property owner. The islands in the middle of the lake have public grounds for hunting that are only accessible by boat. However, locals should understand restrictions and ensure that the grounds are not private property before visiting.Buyers can choose a lake house or inland homes
Townville has a mix of lakefront houses and inland residences. "Lake homes sell fairly quickly, but you can also find more affordable homes in Townville as well. Some new developments are going on too," Turpin says. Many lakefront houses have private backyard docks. Townville housing includes ranch styles, split levels, and manufactured homes. There are also New Traditional homes from the last 10 years. Buyers can find wooded lots as large as 40 acres, but smaller waterfront plots are also available. Larger homes typically cost between $625,000 and $1.4 million, depending on the size and proximity to water. Smaller lakefront homes cost between $250,000 and $500,000. Homes requiring updates can cost buyers between $200,000 and $400,000. The community doesn't have a major risk of flooding. However, tropical storms can cause waterways to overflow. The neighborhood has a CAP Index crime score of 1 out of 10, significantly lower than the national average of 4.
Shopping at Sweet P and breakfast at Waldrops
Townville has a few stores inside the community, such as the locally run Sweet P General. The storefront sells hand-picked home décor and potted plants. There is also a DG Market for groceries and home supplies. Waldrops Restaurant is a popular local spot for breakfast and burgers. The Old Townville Café, right off Interstate 85, has southern comfort food like grits, banana pudding and fried porkchop.Highly rated schools in Anderson School District 4
Students are zoned for highly rated schools in Anderson School District 4. Students attend Townville Elementary, which has an A-minus grade on Niche. Older children travel 15 to 20 minutes outside the community to attend the nearest public schools. Each student in the district attends the A-rated Riverside Middle. Pendleton High earns an A-minus; the school partners with Clemson University to offer career pathways in education, business and computer science. After graduation, some high school seniors choose to attend the university, which is about 15 miles away.Traveling on I-85 and SC-24
"It's really close to Interstate 85. You can get off at home and not have to deal with the interstate, but if you do hop on, the traffic is not bad unless we have an accident," Turpin says. The closest major medical facility is Prisma Health Oconee Mem Hospital, about 15 miles away in Seneca. Drivers can take SC-24 to reach Anderson in about 17 miles.
