A classic, coastal neighborhood in Fairfield
A luxurious, convenient enclave in Fairfield, Sasco is a coastal neighborhood with striking mansions, comfortable Cape Cods and a local beach. “Once their kids are out of the house, a lot of people will look to settle down in the area. It’s just a slow-paced, coastal lifestyle,” says Libby Tritschler, a Realtor with William Raveis Real Estate who has been serving the neighborhood for over a decade. Many join the Country Club of Fairfield to spend time golfing or playing tennis, and the popular Pequot Yacht Club is just a mile drive west of the neighborhood, over the Harbor Road bridge. Post Road keeps residents connected to the restaurants near downtown Fairfield and links them to the luxury shopping that’s 6 miles west in Westport.
High-end estates and smaller New England styles in Sasco
When many think of the neighborhood, they think of Sasco Hill Road, an elevated roadway with multi-million-dollar mansions and sweeping views of the golf course and Long Island Sound. Here, modern estates with colonial and Victorian-inspired designs are accompanied by spacious lawns and private pools. Housing prices fluctuate between $3 million and $12 million, though some listing prices rise as high as $25 million. East of Sasco Hill Road, properties are smaller and less expensive. Gridded, residential streets have classic New England homes with blooming landscaping and shrubbery. Cape Cods and Colonial Revivals from the mid-to-late 1900s are priced between $850,000 and $2 million. Though houses are near the coast, RiskFactor says they generally have a minimal risk of flooding.

A neighborhood beach, country club and nearby yacht club in Sasco
Coastal recreation is the focal point in Sasco, as the shoreline community sits on the Southport Harbor and the Long Island Sound. “Back in the day, the harbor was where they used to ship out the produce that nearby farms grew, like apples and onions,” Tritschler says. “But now it’s all recreation.” A few houses along the harbor have private docks and direct water access, but many other boaters join the Pequot Yacht Club, which is a mile west of the neighborhood. Sasco also has its own beach; the sandy stretch is a popular place to picnic, relax and swim on the Long Island Sound. Residents may also join the Country Club of Fairfield, where they go golfing, play tennis with neighbors and swim at the club’s pools.

Less than 2 miles from the neighborhood, also on Post Road, diners find casual community favorites like Rawley’s Drive-In, where they can order hot dogs and milkshakes. Interstate 95 and commuter trains keep residents connected
While there aren’t sidewalks along the residential roads, Tritschler says it’s still common to see people out on walks or jogging along the quiet streets. Residents may be able to walk to the Country Club of Fairfield or the beach but rely on cars to run errands or commute to work. Interstate 95 is just north of the neighborhood, allowing drivers to travel throughout Fairfield County or drive 58 miles southwest to New York City. Many commuters headed to Manhattan take the train instead; the Southport station and the Fairfield station are both about 2 miles from the neighborhood. Both are serviced by Metro-North Railroad’s New Haven line, which takes 70 to 90 minutes to reach Grand Central Terminal.
