Fairforest is a reclaimed mill town in Spartanburg County SC.
The Upstate at your fingertips in Fairforest
Located on the western outskirts of Spartanburg, Fairforest fits snugly between two major interstates and boasts some of the most highly regarded schools in the area. Due to its proximity to Spartanburg, Greenville, the shopping hubs of the area, and the interstates, Fairforest is one of the most convenient neighborhoods in the region.
Brick to vinyl, small to large
Spacious, open fields and thickly wooded areas stretch between many of the houses in Fairforest. Because it is further from downtown Spartanburg, buyers can find larger lot sizes here, offering opportunities for outdoor fun in their front and back yards. The primary options are brick ranch homes, vinyl-sided bungalows, and new traditional-style homes. Though rare, buyers may see some larger Colonial-style properties. Smaller new constructions have also started to sprout up in the northeast corner of the neighborhood. “Fairforest would be appealing to first-time buyers and commuters because of the great accessibility to Interstates 26 and 85, and homes are moderately priced,” says Donna Morrow, Realtor with Coldwell Banker Caine. Those prices can range from $170,000 to $240,000, depending on whether the homes have been refurbished recently and how new the residence is.

Local gems and massive malls
One of the hidden gems in Fairforest is the Acapulco Bakery, where the aroma of baked goods will hit as soon as one walks through the front door. This store has much more to offer than just sweet treats, as patrons can also order authentic Mexican cuisine or browse the grocery aisles and meat market. More dining and shopping options are easily within reach because of the area’s proximity to interstates. “All of the larger eateries and malls are going to be a five-to-10-minute drive, depending on how far out in Fairforest one lives,” Morrow says. Among these are WestGate Mall and The Dorman Center, which house national retailers including Belk, Kirkland’s and Barnes & Noble. The numerous nearby shopping centers also serve as a convenient spot to pick up groceries and other everyday necessities from Walmart or Costco.
