Fairview offers space outside the city, and schools within Lovejoy ISD
Fairview is an upscale suburb of Dallas offering a hot commodity in North Texas: space. "There's a lot of land here [in North Texas], but it's all being developed," says Sharon Apligian, a Realtor with Re/Max DFW Associates, who has 25 years of experience. "The homes tend to be on larger lots in Fairview than you'll find in the neighboring communities [Allen and McKinley]." But space isn't the only draw, Fairview is zoned to Lovejoy ISD, known as one of the best districts in the county. While Fairview is still considered a small town, Apligian says it's much bigger than it used to be and grew with the Lovejoy school district over time. The city stretches along Highway 75, a direct path to Dallas in 30 miles. Around 10,000 people live in Fairview, many commuting to Plano for work, 12 miles south. Locals enjoy neighborhood parks stocked with recreation and the short drive to Lake Lavon, 15 miles away.

Stone Creek Estates is one of the most coveted neighborhoods, with properties going for well over $1 million. The city also has a selection of townhouses for more affordable, lock-and-leave lifestyles, as well as senior communities. Apligian says the city’s 55-plus community Heritage Ranch is highly sought-after for the golf course and the wooded areas, creeks and ponds with trails surrounding it. The median home price in Fairview is around $640,000, significantly higher than the state’s median.

Spring brings hail in Fairview
Winters are mild, and it’s hot well into October here. Apligian says golf ball-sized hail is a problem in spring. “Roofing companies, they call the hail sky diamonds because there is a lot of money [in it],” she says. “Our insurance rates have gone up considerably because of the hail.” She adds that January and February bring ice storms and are the most unpredictable weather months.
