Maplewood Park is a 13-acre neighborhood green space with a basketball court, tennis courts, baseball fields that are home to the Maplewood Independent Youth Baseball League, and a New England Patriots-themed playground donated by the NFL team's charitable foundation. Paul Poulos Memorial Park is a smaller park with a playground, a basketball court and four square. Maplewood has a public boat ramp onto South Watuppa Pond on the neighborhood’s east end and a Planet Fitness on the west side for indoor recreation. Durfee High has a career and technical education program that allows students to specialize in career pathways such as construction, culinary arts and cosmetology. The extension of the MBTA's South Coast Rail now links Fall River to Boston via the new commuter rail station about 3 miles north of Maplewood. There are also Southeastern Regional Transit Authority bus stops in this pedestrian-friendly neighborhood, allowing residents to get around Fall River. The nearest medical center, St. Anne’s Hospital, is 2 miles northwest, and Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport is 27 miles west.Shopping and dining at SouthCoast Marketplace
